Dementia care for Māori short course

Take home messages: Making the diagnosis of dementia can happen and is often most appropriate in primary care. For Māori patients get whānau and the wider community involved. Be realistic with patients about driving. Encourage getting affairs in order early. Caring for the carers is important too. Get community agencies involved.

Recognising, Diagnosing and Managing Dementia in General Practice

A free online course for general practice nurses and GPs, presented as videos (with transcripts available). Four modules cover Recognising Dementia in General Practice; Diagnosing Dementia in General Practice; How does Dementia progress?; and Managing Dementia in General Practice. Estimated time to complete is 4 hours. You are welcome to take DTA courses if you live outside of Australia, however if learner quota is near full then preference will be given to Australian enrolments. At the time of writing the course is offered monthly.
